We have our first show of 2018 coming up at Sunset Sounds on Sunday 14 January in Central Park, Malvern East.

It is a family friendly free event and we will be joined by Jazz Party on the night.

NUMBER 35. Lance Ferguson – Raw Material

Music obsessive, workaholic, maverick. These are all true of Lance Ferguson. But his first album under his own name demonstrates just how inadequate these descriptions are of The Bamboos leader.

The intricacies of this album’s making are mindboggling. Ferguson made 12 songs, pressed them onto vinyl, sent them to producers he admired and asked them to sample, rework and reimagine the tracks into new songs. The scope of the concept, the passion for collaboration and vinyl is evident and slightly staggering.

But it never gets heavy handed. Crisp, clean melodic lines pervade throughout. The huge community of musical cohorts he’s drawn upon for this record give you the sense of the esteem in which he’s rightly held but also, they give Raw Material an undeniable warmth and allure that delivers in abundance. – Caz Tran

Hard to pick a favourite moment but playing the new album last night for the very first time was next-level fun...Bringing a one hour all-instrumental fully-segued set in Week 3 sure kept us on our toes...and what about Ross Irwin making his Bamboos lead-vocal debut after all these years!!! xoxo

It's fifty years since iconic Australian band The Easybeats hit the UK charts with their smash song ‘Friday on My Mind’, and Easyfever is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Bamboos (with guest vocals from Montaigne) are proud to be part of the 'Rebeat' EP  recognising the everlasting influence the band continues to have. We're in the company of other great local artists such as Daniel Johns' Boom Tish project, KLP, LDRU featuring Nicole Millar and San Cisco.

Our version of "I'll Make You Happy" is out now and the full EP is out on November 24.

After many albums under different projects, Lance Ferguson will release the first album under his own name. 'Raw Material' is out on August 4 and is an album inspired by vinyl, digging and sampling culture. Thirteen new tracks have been created by Ferguson and a great line up of guests by sampling from twelve funk, jazz and disco recorded just for that purpose. The first taste is "Back To You", which was built from samples taken from "2 + 1", featuring Kylie Auldist. Pre-order the album here.
